Renovation and Restoration
The field of renovation and restoration focuses on the respectful preservation, restoration and repurposing of existing objects. These often have archaeological, historical or contemporary value.
As metal restorers, we carefully consider the treatment of wrought iron or cast iron objects. We look at the materials used, the manufacturing technique, the authenticity, the origin, the (restoration) history, the possible presence of marks and the style.
Then we look at the condition of the metal. We perform physical interventions with materials and techniques that cause as little damage as possible to the original and retain as much authenticity as possible.
The restorers of Ox Iron Art have a background as a goldsmith, artist and museum restorer. They have a lot of knowledge about European (art) history and are specialized in (re)creating historical metal objects.
We have our own foundry and workshop. We have extensive experience in designing and modeling castings.
Ox Iron Art In addition to major restoration projects, it also does a great deal for the restoration of smaller historical works of art. Think of balconies, lanterns, gates & fences and stairs in historic buildings. In addition, clients call on us for the repair of street lamps, chandeliers and actually all historical pieces that are made of wrought iron and cast iron.
Heraldic signs tell something about people through style features, figures, colors and the accompanying motto. About their character and vision of life, their profession and their origin.
Interest in heraldry is increasing. This is due to the desire of people to record their identity by means of their own heraldic coat of arms and to pass it on to future generations.
In this way we can provide a weapon for every person, association, institution or organisation, community or municipality to design. You can have your heraldic family coat of arms made in bronze or another metal with us. For example as part of a fence, chandelier, lamp or lantern.
We have vast and unique experience worldwide in restoring special wrought iron pieces. The specialists of Ox Iron Art are responsible for the entire assignment. This ranges from the first measurements to the final return of the restored pieces to the historic site.
