Wrought iron stair balustrade “Melody” – Art Nouveau in Heemskerk
In a standard home in Heemskerk, Ox Iron Art designed a unique Art-Nouveau stair balustrade. Flowing lines, musical details and a continuous handrail make the staircase both stylish and practical.
Challenge and location
In this home, there was no room for a traditional starting ornament. Therefore, the handrail was elegantly turned in from the first step and securely attached to the wall. This created a compact and secure solution that perfectly suited the limited space.
Design with personal touch
The owner is a music lover. To translate that passion into the ironwork, the fastening details were executed as musical notes. The design follows the Art-Nouveau style with graceful curls and flowing lines, giving the staircase an expressive and harmonious character.
Construction and materials
-Hand forged from solid square 14×14 mm and forged flat strip
-Handrail of 50 mm, ergonomically shaped and comfortable in the hand
-Anchorage on both the first step and the wall to make the most of the compact space
Comfort and safety
The family wanted the grandfather, who visits often, to be able to move around safely. Therefore, a continuous handrail was created from the first floor so that he could descend easily and without risk.
Final result
The result is a balustrade that transforms a standard home in Heemskerk into an elegant and personal interior. Musical details, traditional wrought ironwork and practical comfort come together in a unique custom project by Ox Iron Art.
